Catalog Views and Policies are the foundational data model in Adobe Commerce Optimizer — enabling enterprises to scale catalogs across brands, regions, and channels without duplicating source data.

Catalog Views: Define meaningful business groups — dealers by region, subsidiaries in conglomerates, or manufacturing locations for suppliers. Each view is a lens on shared source data.

Catalog Layers: Modify product presentation without altering source records. When using AEM Assets for product images, the AEM-Assets layer applies through Product Visuals integration.

Policies: Data access filters within catalog views ensuring the right products reach the right destination — POS systems, marketplaces, Google Shopping feeds, or regional storefronts.

Data Sync dashboard: Monitor ingestion status from PIM, ERP, and Commerce Connector feeds into Catalog Service, Search, and Recommendations tabs — catch sync failures before shoppers see stale inventory.

Events page: Verify storefront behavioural eventing powers recommendations — misconfigured event pipelines are the #1 cause of "recommendations show generic results."

Proper catalog modelling during Optimizer implementation prevents expensive restructures when expanding from DTC to B2B or international markets six months post-launch.
